“Shining” is a song written and performed by American producer DJ Khaled as the lead single from his tenth studio album, Grateful (2017). The song features vocals from American singer Beyoncé and American rapper Jay-Z. The song was released on February 12, 2017, by We the Best and Epic Records. The song contains a sample of Osunlade’s 2013 recording “Dionne” which itself samples 1970’s “Walk the Way You Talk” by Dionne Warwick.
Right after the 2017 Grammy Awards came to a close, DJ Khaled dropped a surprise single featuring his manager Jay Z and musical superstar Beyoncé. “Shining” serves as the first single off of his upcoming album Grateful.
The single art features Khaled’s newborn son, Asahd Tuck Khaled.
The song samples “Dionne” by Osunlade, who sampled “Walk the way You Talk” by Dionne Warwick. DJ Khaled uses the instrumentals as well as the vocals from “Dionne” while adding his own fresh perspective.
This is what they call dream team. Beyoncé don’t do no features. I haven’t heard one in a long time, so I’m very grateful. Jay Z, he don’t really do features either, you know what I’m saying. And every time we work we always win. To get the king and the queen together on one record, that was like, I cried, I ain’t gonna lie to you.
